Senior Account Manager
Reporting to the account supervisor, the senior account manager acts as a link between the client and the agency and ensures that the day-to-day running of marketing projects goes smoothly. This person keeps clients informed at every stage of a project and ensures that they are happy with the work as it progresses. This position coordinates the activities of the internal team and takes primary responsibility for meeting deadlines. The senior account manager will typically handle the accounts of one to two non-competing clients, including responsibility for creative briefs and job orders, developing project estimates (with input from team members), managing budgets, maintaining schedules, developing status reports and conference reports, and setting up meetings. The senior account manager is expected to be familiar with the clients’ business’ and be ready to contribute ideas and suggestions in meetings. He or she will lead some strategic projects with the support of the Acct. Supervisor and will be expected to be able to fill in for the account supervisor in meetings when necessary.
Responsibilities
- Acting as liaison between client and agency by maintaining regular contact with both and ensuring that communication flows effectively
- Keeping account supervisor fully briefed on client needs, concerns and issues; maintaining overall client initiatives calendars
- Thorough awareness of client’s business goals, and general knowledge of the client’s business needs and challenges beyond direct areas of responsibility
- Helping to develop marketing plans to meet client’s business goals by working directly with client to assess and refine needs
- Participating in strategic planning projects
- Overseeing the progression of projects; coordinating projects with internal agency departments
- Developing and updating project timelines, meeting deadlines and prioritizing tasks
- Participating in creative development: write creative briefs, briefing creative team, assuring adherence to strategy during the review process
- Monitoring competitive activity and media
- Constantly monitoring internal and external processes and making suggestions for improvements as necessary
- Responsible for job profitability and supporting overall client profitability
Requirements
- Requires Bachelor’s degree in advertising or marketing or related field
- Requires 4+ years agency experience managing clients, or equivalent client-side marketing experience
- Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint required; Visio and Project a plus
- Must be a confident self-starter, a team player, an innovative problem solver and able to manage multiple projects at once
- Needs to be attentive to detail, resourceful, work well under pressure and have strong communications skills
