nFusion “Tees Off” with the First Tee of Greater Austin for Opening of Harvey Penick Campus
Austin, Texas, May 3, 2005 — nFusion Group, LLC, a results-oriented, integrated marketing agency, is set for the “tee off” of the Harvey Penick Golf Campus, home of The First Tee of Greater Austin at East Communities YMCA.
In fact, nFusion has supported The First Tee of Greater Austin (TFTGA) since its founding: Jay Watson, managing director at nFusion, has served as chairman and founding director of TFTGA, and John Ellett, CEO of nFusion is a member of TFTGA’s board of directors. Additionally, nFusion has engaged in developing TFTGA’s creative platform, positioning, messaging and logo design, as well as advertising, Web and event execution.
With the opening of this campus, The First Tee of Greater Austin is committed to enriching the lives of youth through the game of golf, utilizing a research-based program that teaches important life skills such as interpersonal communication, goal setting, self-management and resistance skills. The program offers youth from all backgrounds a safe place to go during non-school hours where they can participate in structured activities to help them grow and learn.
Designed by the PGA TOUR Design Services and inspired by the spirit and teachings of Harvey Penick, the campus is open to anyone with a love of golf, a respect for others and a desire to learn what it takes to succeed on the course — and in life. A local chapter of The First Tee National Organization, TFTGA’s vision is based on the unwavering belief that:
- Kids’ lives can be enriched with lessons taught through the game of golf. The goal is that kids not only learn the game of golf, but also acquire personal assets — such as resiliency, self-worth and a sense of integrity and responsibility — to help them develop long-term physical, mental and social health.
- Kids from all walks of life should have a place to learn and play. Consequently, the purpose is to introduce kids of all walks of life to the game of golf and to create facilities and programs that make golf more affordable and accessible.
The Harvey Penick Golf Campus is a home for The First Tee of Greater Austin and is a truly unique place to develop Austin’s youth — a fitting tribute to and continuing legacy of Harvey Penick, who was so inspired by the game and saw its power to teach the core values needed to succeed in life. “Throughout his career, Harvey strove to pass that wisdom to his pupils, particularly to children. With the opening of this campus as a home for The First Tee of Greater Austin, we seek to memorialize Harvey in the most appropriate way: with a golf campus dedicated to teaching youth life skills through the game of golf,” said Jay Watson.
