nFusion Generates Big Results Via Facebook Contest
nFusion has been a long-time partner with the Hill Country Ride for AIDS (HCRA). The HCRA is a bike ride through the Texas Hill Country for cyclists of all skill levels, raising money to provide essential, life-saving services for thousands of people living with HIV and AIDS.
nFusion has not only provided creative services for HCRA, we’re avid participants in the annual Ride. For the 2010 Ride we wanted to create some serious buzz to promote the cause, raise donations and spark fierce yet civilized competition among our staff riders.
We came up with a Facebook campaign in which friends and fans could vote for one nFusion staff rider to earn an extra vacation day: The staffer who could raise the most donations got the coveted day off work.
To make this happen we created a custom-built Facebook tab that featured a quick bio for each staff rider, as well as a “vote now” button so fans could vote for their favorite riders. Once they voted, our custom utility showed voters the real-time results on the tab itself — functionality existing canned applications don’t currently provide. The tab also featured direct links to the HCRA donations page, where Facebook users could go to make their donations.
The contest ran for two weeks and our custom-built tab received over 13,400 unique page views. Our staff riders received over 20,000 votes and we surpassed our donations goal! Because of the increased degree of page engagement, nFusion’s fan base grew, too.
Facebook has strict guidelines for competitions hosted on its pages. nFusion found a compelling way to promote HCRA’s cause and encourage participation within the platform, while adhering to Facebook’s guidelines, including maintaining the anonymity of voters.
